I have no idea about the answer to your question, but interestingly I too have an 853 GT road bike that is probably just like yours! It was Mari Holden's bike in '96 when she rode for Shimano. So I'd actually be curious about the answer to this question as well.

Does yours have the replacement titanium bolts everywhere that have the centers drilled out for weight savings? I've always assumed that that might have only been possible for the smaller riders, like Mari, but you're the first person I've come across who also has one of the same bikes!

Hello, I bought a road bike from Bikes Direct in February 2018 that boasts the Reynolds 853 main tubeset. They specced the bike with Ritchie WCS wheels, bars/stem, seatpost/saddle and Shimano Ultegra rim brakes and drive train. The frame was designed with a relaxed geometry (stack heighth and angles) but is an absolute blast to ride, as I'm now on the cusp of 20,000 miles. I cannot praise steel in general and your premium tubes in particular high enough as a choice for cyclists and one off frame builders! So, thanks for your dedication to metallurgy and to demanding frame builders everywhere.
    Satisfied and sincere, Jim

Hello,
I have acquired a Professional GT 853 frame from circa 1996-1998 ridden by Olympic medalist Brian Walton of the Saturn Pro team. The frame is custom made to size for the rider, but is the actual tubing designation other than the 853 decal is provided. Is this frame (with a stock carbon fork) made with a variant ot the stadanrd tubing. previously mentioned?

Hi Mr C Newbould, apologies for the delayed response! It looks like you have the standard 853. The Pro Team and DZB badges look distinctly different. Additionally, the Pro Team is for very lightweight frames and the DZB is for mountain bikes. If you would like more assistance, please feel free to email a picture to our office at toptubes@reynoldstechnology.biz and our team will be able to assist you further.

All the best!

I've just bought a brand new (old stock) 2010 Dawes Sportif Elite frame which has your Reynolds 853 label on it. Just looking at your video it states that you make 853 in two types Pro Team and DZB. The label on my frame doesn't have either of these words. on it so what type is it please. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.
